Benediction prepare to release new album recorded at Grindstone Studio

2020-08-07 - BENEDICTION are without a doubt one of the few remaining originals in the death metal scene and have achieved legendary status through various albums over the years. Until today they love what they do and always do their job without compromise - on record and on stage. After more than 30 years in the business and 12 years after their last album "Killing Music", BENEDICTION are now back with one of their best releases and play once again in the Death Metal Champions League. The first single/video "Rabid Carnality" can be streamed everywhere from today on and is also the kick-off for the presale of the new album "Scriptures" (produced by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio in England). It will be released digitally, on CD and in different versions on vinyl.
The new album "Scriptures" sounds 100% like BENEDICTION: they blend death metal with a "fuck-off punk rock attitude", heavy metal riffing and a groove that hardly any other band can perform like this. Dave Ingram's "signature-growls" and powerful lyrics enhance the tonal framework so that you can hear after a few notes that you are listening to BENEDICTION. As usual the tracks vary from slow and heavy to fast and intense, from shorter "in your face" numbers to epic masterpieces.

The artwork fits perfectly to BENEDICTION and awakens an immediate desire in the devoted Old School Death Metal fan to enjoy the new album. It was created by Birmingham artist Simon Harris and is reminiscent of the iconic artwork of the first albums. Without a doubt it will fit very well in every vinyl collection next to "Subconscious Terror", "The Grand Leveler" or "Transcend The Rubicon" and will be appearing on shirts and posters in the future.

All in all, "Scriptures" is an album from scratch, where everything is just as it should be. A jewel in the catalogue of a band that has been present from the very beginning and - freely based on one of their most popular songs "We bow to None" - has always remained true to themselves and their fans.

BENEDICTION are BACK! And they are better than EVER!

Cradle Of Filth 'Cruelty and the Beast' Remix

CRUELTY AND THE BEAST RELEASED 1ST NOVEMBER (MUSIC FOR NATIONS)

COF.JPG

Originally released in May 1998, Cradle of Filth’s heavy metal classic, ‘Cruelty and the Beast’ is regarded as one of the milestones in the Gothic Black Metal genre.

Now 21 years later this lustfully dark masterpiece has been wickedly remixed and remastered by Grindstone Studio’s Scott Atkins and will be reissued on 1st November 2019 through legendary UK label Music For NationsDani Filth comments,

Released on the 5th of May, around the same time as we were arrested at the Vatican, ‘Cruelty.. and The Beast’ had been a painstaking labour of love, a year of intense writing amid ever growing popularity and distraction. The album’s concept of the Hungarian blood countess Elizabeth Bathory -both historically astute and fictionally correct- was to become a dangerous obsession of mine and one that saw many a first light of dawn working on the lyrics, hellbent on making the story worthy of her legend.

Released on CD, transparent red vinyl and digitally, this elevated version of ‘Cruelty and The Beast’ features new artwork from band illuminator Stuart Williamson, exclusive linear notes from Dani Filth and Cvlt Black Metal writer and documentarian, Dayal Patterson as well as a bonus track cover of Iron Maiden’s ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’. Dayal adds,

Cruelty And The Beast has long been considered a milestone album in Cradle Of Filth's career, a combination of atmospheric storytelling and visceral, and surprisingly vicious, songs. This 21st anniversary edition has bolstered those songs with an added weight, improving the sound considerably with a warmer and punchier mix, making it a must hear for long-time fans and newcomers alike.

75 limited edition test pressing vinyl versions will also be available, each coming with a personalised signed letter from the prince of darkness himself.

With singer Dani Filth fully committed to the collaboration and endorsement of both the new audio and artwork, the band will be working on promo and there will be a celebratory exclusive live show at London Palladium on 19th October where they will be performing the album in its entirety. Dani concludes,

Cruelty And The Beast’ remains a phenomenally important album in the band’s back catalogue and one that I am exceptionally proud of, as I am exceptionally proud of this Re-Mistressed version, 21 years on from the original release. I hope the listener -sitting there by the flame-lit hearth with his/her walnut pipe on the go-  thoroughly enjoys this Cradle classic, so vividly brought back to life for the fickle world today.

SERMON SIGNS TO PROSTHETIC RECORDS

HOW TO GET A DEAL…

SERMON weren’t even a band. The brainchild of one person and and the talents of a killer drummer. No Facebook likes, never played a gig. No line up pics, no social media. Nothing. Just a handful of original well written songs and a vision. I produced the record a year ago, and if i don’t mind saying myself, it turned out really decent. Getting signed is not easy. But it was for these chaps. Look out for the album ‘Birth Of The Marvellous’ out on Prothetic Records 2019.

Their first ever show will be supporting OPETH at Prog In Park 3 Warsaw Poland!!

Savage Messiah Release new album 'Hands Of Fate'

savage.jpg

SAVAGE MESSIAH report:

We are proud to bring you our new album ‘Hands of Fate’ out today (27.10.17) on Century Media Records.

Frontman David Silver comments:

“So here it is! After what feels like forever we can finally unleash our new album upon the world! And we couldn’t be more excited to finally get it out to everybody.

We approached this album with the desire to write catchy, memorable, anthemic songs with big grooves and driving rhythms. The word “big” was something that got thrown around a lot in the studio, does is it sound “big” enough? That was the challenge. We’ve always embraced the melodic aspects of heavy metal, and this time we really went for it, and it was certainly an incredibly enjoyable album to make, I certainly hope that shines through to the listening experience.

We can’t wait to bring this album to stages around the world in 2017/2018!!”

Cradle Of Filth complete new album 'Cryptoriana'

So, after spending much of December to April tucked away in the depths of the English countryside, i'm pleased to say the new COF album is finally finished! The band are really stepping up their game this time around, everyone writes and everyone is fully committed to making this generation of the band one of their strongest ever. Its rare to find such a diplomatic scenario in a band, they are a pleasure to work with. Anyway, i hope you enjoy it - it was soooo much work!!

"Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" was recorded at Grindstone Studios, Suffolk, U.K. by the very honorable Scott Atkins, who has been the resident go-to producer for CRADLE OF FILTH for several albums. Dani Filth sat in during the mix, serving up flaming mugs of teas, making the studio couch his own and lending his ears when necessary.

Commented Dani: "The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that. 'Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation."

The video for the album's first single, "Heartbreak And Séance", can be seen below. Dani stated about the clip: "Working with such an artistic director as Artūrs Bērziņš was indeed an honor, as the video shoot was very extensively planned, involving a myriad of extras and crew, make-up girls and set builders, a crow, some well-behaved snakes and a considerable amount of snow, candles, water, trees, naked bodies, lamentable mourners, as well as all being submerged in suitably gothic landscapes and vistas. And the fact that we travelled to Riga in Latvia to film it was also very unique and interesting. The video itself is fantastic, drawing from the darkly erotic imagery of the album artwork and bringing it to richly technicoloured classical life. We had such a blast shooting it, as the accompanying photos attest to..."

Devilment unleash new video 'Hitchcock Blonde'

Dani Filth side-project Devilment pay tribute to Alfred Hitchcock in Psycho-inspired video for track from second album, recoded here at GRINDSTONE STUDIO with Scott Atkins.

From Hammer Horror movies to real life psychos Elizabeth Bathory and Gilles de Rais, Cradle Of Filth and Devilment frontman Dani Filth has never been one to hide his influences. But now he’s turned his attention to a more unlikely figure: legendary director Alfred Hitchcock. The legendary filmmaker provides the inspiration for Hitchcock Blonde, a track from Devilment’s forthcoming second album, Devilment II: The Mephisto Waltzes.

“The song is pretty self-explanatory,” says Dani. “This is all about Hitchcock’s infatuation with his onscreen heroines: cool, controlled, aloof and sophisticated blondes. It even namechecks ten of his favourite actresses.”

The video for the song continues the Hitchcock connection. Inspired by the director’s most famous film, Psycho, it features grimy showers, dangerous-looking knives, bloodstained walls and – oh yes – a blonde damsel attempting to escape various unseen terrors (interesting fact: she’s played by model/actress Leanne Joyce, most noted for appearing in notoriously horrific TV show Call The Midwife).

As ever there is a psychotic bendto the lyrics and the accompanying video, which was shot in a derelict, haunted hotel in the middle of Ipswich [the band’s home town] where Lord Nelson was said to have stayed on numerable occasions,” says Dani. “The various hideous frights throughout the video were past denizens of the hotel captured on camera."

Savage Messiah Finish Album

Summer 2016 saw myself and SAVAGE MESSIAH checking into the world famous 'ROCKFIELD STUDIOS' in Wales to complete pre-production and track the drums for their next album due in 2017. Additional recording took place at The Grindstone, and whilst I tackled the mix, the band flew to TOKYO to play the LOUD PARK Festival at the Saitama Super Arena. The album is now finished and the band are in talks with numerous labels. Fans of metal charged hard rock are gonna love this :)
